BYD has announced the introduction of the Sealion 7 electric SUV in India on February 17, 2025. The SUV was initially seen at the Auto Expo 2025, and bookings have been available for some time. Deliveries are planned to begin on March 7, 2025. The Sealion 7, BYD's fourth electric model in India, is projected to be the brand's most luxurious offering, improving its presence in the country's rapidly rising EV category.

The BYD Sealion 7, which is already available in China and Europe, will come to India in two models, both powered by an 82.5 kWh battery pack. The RWD Premium variant claims a range of 587 km, while the AWD Performance model claims 542 km per charge (NEDC cycle). Customers will have the option of a single-motor system with 308 bhp or a more powerful dual-motor version with 523 bhp. With these options, the Sealion 7 seeks to strike a balance between efficiency and performance in the luxury electric SUV segment.

Inspired by the BYD Seal sedan, the electric SUV has a distinct front fascia with sleek LED headlights and vertically stacked DRLs, while the rear features a full-width taillight and a stylish diffuser. Buyers will have four color options to select from: Shark Grey, Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, and Cosmos Black.

Inside, the Sealion 7 has a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a slew of luxury features such as ventilated and heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and a 12-speaker premium audio system. On the safety front, the SUV is loaded with ADAS technology, including adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, cross-traffic warnings, and lane departure warning.
With its launch, the Sealion 7 will enter India's competitive premium EV category, competing against cars such as the Kia EV6 and BMW iX1.
